Some of them are definitely just an oversized corner store more so than an actual grocery store. It is always tragic when you have to move away from a solid store and start the hunt all over again.

La Casa Del Pueblo is one of the best grocery stores I have ever been to, it was a dream living a block away from it for a few years.
I don’t boycott any one chain, but Walmart is definitely the “store of last resort” for me. It’s only an option for things that Target, Publix, Winn-Dixie and Piggly Wiggly don’t have. I managed to avoid setting foot in one for the majority of the pandemic, thankfully.
I’m always reminded of that GOP bozo who brought a snowball in a cooler to congress or w/e to “disprove” global warming.
Meijers might have 22% of respondents saying no, but make up for it with 100% of Michiganders using it almost exclusively.
my sense is that it’s no longer reversible while human beings are around
I love my Kroger, but I refuse to shop at Walmart...unless I have to. I don’t think their meat is very good quality. I don’t like the way their employees are treated. And I don’t like how they underprice small suppliers and run mom-and-pop’s out of business. My kitchen is full of Kroger brand everything.
Yeah, it was changing the accurate term for the cause of the problem to a slightly less-accurate term to capture the effect of the problem.
My local Krogers all have in the freezer/vegetables section (or in the app for ordering a pickup or delivery grocery order!) diced green peppers. It’s about 14oz. of frozen diced green pepper, frozen, and the chop is good, they’re about .5cm squared, nice and small. This has been a godsend for me making Italian beef,…
Beautiful piece.
Because I don’t cook a lot of Latin American food, I buy my sofrito from a jar. Tastes great to me! I love to cook (and am lucky enough to have no physical or other barriers) and often use shortcut ingredients and a food processor to chop large batches of any vegetable. I hate that anyone made you feel your cooking or…
I have to believe fish and chips is the result of this being delivery. No one likes stodgy, luke-warm fried food. Fish and chips (and any fried food) needs to be fresh out the fryer. Any food that is full of nice heat-retaining sauces (or doesn’t need to be hot) is going to win out in delivery.
It probably came to be either from a public health standpoint and the inability of the state to male sure that those people were complying with sanitation and safety requirements or from bigger businesses lobbying to make life hard for their smaller competitors.
I don’t know if I’d want Gaiman to prove that this prospective second season is based on notes he and Pratchett made 30 years ago for a possible sequel and not based on just making nonsense up right now thanks to the Amazon truck full of money parked outside his house, but... I wouldn’t mind if he did prove it.
Amen amen amen. Look, I like Neil Gaiman as much as the next nerd, but his record on going back to the well on his old properties is as mixed as you’d expect, especially on TV.
It absolutely doesn’t need a second season and yet I’m jonesing for another hit of Crowly and Aziraphale and so am tentatively piqued.
Limeade and lemonade all damn day.
Sorry, everybody, gotta wait on our pasta salad until tomorrow. Yesterday we shut down at nine and were closed altogether today--four AC failures at four separate restaurants in two days were the omen we needed.
