There are beers made from pumpkin that do not taste like pumpkin. It is an old colonial tradition. When barley was hard to find, they would make beers from pumpkins or yams.

You don’t go through with it because you’re stronger than the depression. Depression lies.
I hope your doctor can help. Stay strong. Tell those stupid thoughts to fuck the hell off.
Not beer, but you know what’s really great? Pumpkin muffin batter cooked in a waffle iron. It’s nice and crispy all over and I think I’ll make some this weekend - oh, wait, I bought ingredients for carrot cake, so the weekend after that.
First of all you’re not weak for not killing yourself. The voice that’s telling you that is the disease. Fuck that voice! That voice doesn’t have the right answers and it never will. Secondly if you have a therapist keep seeing your therapist. If you don’t like your therapist find one that you do like.
Depends. I like a lot of Harvest brews. Blue Moon’s used to have Harvest Moon and that was a really good one, and New Belgium had Pumpkick which was pretty good. The less overpowering the pumpkin is, the better it is for me.
Hey Signboy,
I think they mean they didn’t have any corn starch
I kept writing a variety of responses, but most of them just amounted to different versions of my own experience, or observations I had while in the process of finding meds, etc.
I read a book in High School called “I Had Seen Castles”. Tiny little 90 pager, real simple, about a young man going off to WWII. He enlists because he’s young and prideful and all that, and it devastates his girlfriend. It stuck with me at the time. I was only 15 or whatever, very much wanting to fall in love, etc.…
Exception: Elysian Night Owl. Which they’ve been late to release this year. God damn Anheuser Busch.
I usually hate pumpkin beer, but just had a 2016 Pumpion from Elk Valley. A 12.something percent bourbon barrel aged pumpkin beer. Super tasty, kind of like a really well aged single malt. Took me about two hours to sip through the can, though.
You’re making me cry over the loss of Long Grove apple cider donuts... but even worse was the loss of Quig’s Orchard, which was about 3 miles north-east, and had the greatest apple cider donuts known to man.
Whose pumpkin cider? Woodchuck did a one-off a few years back that was phenomenal.
Ha. My first thought when I saw this was, “this is still a feature? Who’s left? Hasn’t everybody fled to AV Club After Dark?”
Pumpkin beer is generally good for between 2 sips to a half a beer. So yea, but just if you’re doing a flight. With an exceptional one, it’s definitely a yea.
I miss the AV Club.
Been having a hard time with my depression lately. I have an appointment with my doctor next week - see if I can get a change in my meds and dosage.
Pumpkin beer: I’d drink it but I haven’t seen it anywhere this year. I don’t think it took off in the UK in the same way it did elsewhere, I was still able to get hold of a couple of varieties well into 2017 that must have been kicking about since this time last year.
I’ll take the cue. “Into the Great Wide Open” is a very good song.
Gotta side with PET here. Them being vegan is not relevant to your anecdote, so it’s an unnecessary adjective. The inclusion of that implies that it is relevant. If I were to start a story, “I was hanging out with some black friends,” would that not imply that them being black is relevant? Otherwise I would just say…
