It wouldn’t take a ton of effort for me to be a full-time vegetarian, though I would miss a few things (come on, you can’t tell me vegan bacon is anything like real bacon). But as it is, we mostly eat chicken at home, with the occasional bacon, pepperoni, or pork sausage. My husband eats beef maaaybe 2-3x a year, I

My FIL is a big parrothead and my husband inherited some of that, so this hit him hard today. My husband is turning 40 this month so A Pirate Looks at 40 was especially bittersweet. We played Fins at our wedding reception, ate at Margaritaville in Key West in 2021 and generally I’ve enjoyed his music and frozen

I went to college in rural central Indiana in the early aughts, so I know things have changed since then. But we had 3 main options - a traditional dining hall with a buffet, a sit-down restaurant style option where you ordered off a menu, and a food court that had about 7-8 options plus grab and go. The options at

Yeah, PA booze laws are weird. Illinois lets you buy whatever at the supermarket, no separate section or checkout needed, though some towns’ laws vary a little.

I’m not sure you’re saving a lot of time over me, but hey, whatever works

On our first solo/couple trip to WDW, we did the dining plan - I think there was some kind of deal where it was included with the park tickets or something. And yeah, it was way too much food. And in an unbalanced way - an extra snack might have been nice, but I think the meals all included dessert, which I don’t

considering the grocery store I go to is constantly hiring, I don’t think I’m taking anyone’s job away here.

Interesting, since the ones I mostly use are at Mariano’s, which is our local flavor of Kroger.

The ones I’ve used are probably 4 x 4 ft and have three bag racks plus a little extra space. I can fit my three reusable bags on there fairly well and make it work. It would not be ideal if you had a huge cartful, but for my two-person household’s weekly shop, it works.

Critical thinking skills have plummeted in this country I swear.

the PLUs are the same across grocery stores.

I can bag quicker and better than most of the Mariano’s cashiers for sure. I also often see long lines at the staffed checkouts and little to none at the self-check. I do go in the staffed lines if I have booze, but I don’t often buy that at the grocery store.

a lot of stores literally have scales on the bagging area so they know you’ve paid for what you’re bagging... seems wildly inefficient to put it back in your cart.

I have been using self-checkout almost exclusively since covid - it seemed easier and meant less human contact, which is a good thing when you’re trying to avoid getting sick. I don’t understand the bagging thing - with a few exceptions almost every self-checkout allows or makes you scan something and put it right

Yall need to take down or at least rewrite the story on the SAME PAGE with the erroneous death report.

I just this morning got one of the baked apple croissants and a pumpkin creme coldbrew. My “croissant” was indeed muffin-shaped and not quite as flaky as a croissant normally is, but it was very buttery, tasty and not too sweet. It’s not that big, but makes a nice little sweet side with my coffee.

Yeah, I was/am a Grey’s watcher, no shade meant, just a gentle correction.

*They. Sara is nonbinary.

I knew a guy in college who went by Scooter (real first name: Scott) but I’m not sure if he kept going by it after college, and arguably college dudes are not grown men.

It’s basically the idea that straight white cis man = default, and the further you move from that, the less universal it is. Which is total bullshit, of course. I’m white, I love Black Panther and Turning Red and Everything Everywhere All at Once and Moonlight and Reservation Dogs and so on and so forth. They may not
