As good a time as any for Advice to the Probably Dead:

Although my sympathies lie firmly with the "torture is bad" camp, I went into Zero Dark Thirty figuring that the criticism was probably overblown. I assumed that the "torture is bad" coalition was unhappy that the movie didn't set up a heavyhanded morality play, showing clearly the evil and futility of torture now and

Yeah, I had never seen this before, but I thought it was straight up funny.

Yes, god yes. Is it possible for actors to talk about the craft of acting without sounding enormously douche-y?

@avclub-35eca710783734c24b732c57f3943ad2:disqus — oh, yes, I remember rocking the tape drive. I also remember waiting 15 minutes for a program to load, only to have the fucking thing crap out.

I once spent ten minutes standing next to him while waiting for a table at a restaurant, and the experience was very much as though one of your favorite cartoon characters has come to life and is chatting amiably about his weekend plans. His voice is just utterly unmistakable and somewhat surreal.

Another nice thing about that campaign is that there was a time before the movie came out that the casting of Heath Ledger provoked eye rolls. The advertisements killed that pretty quick.
