Do Christians even know who Ricky Gervais is? If I asked my right-wing relatives to rattle off lists of entertainers they held some irrational hate for, they'd probably get through a pretty exhaustive list before they ever evinced any knowledge of the UK Office, Extras, or "The Invention of Lying."

That's a flaw with prequels generally. Why should I care about Anakin Skywalker when I already know everything interesting that's going to happen to him? McCoy's not my favorite Doctor, but I like him fine, and seeing any of them getting work these days is a treat. (Side note: if Jackson was going to do crazy overbloat on the original LOTR trilogy, how awesome would Tom Baker as Tom Bombadil have been? I mean, totally gratuitous and out of place as fuck, but I mean,

Actually, based on the Morbius Doctors, we know that Tom Baker was the twelfth Doctor, that Peter Davison was the final, thirteenth incarnation, and that every serial after "Caves of Androzani" is non-canonical.

While I like "The Visitor" just fine, I like "Hippocratic Oath" a lot more. I'd rather see Zack do both next week.

Gowron is great - I could watch an entire episode of him sidling around dimly lit throne rooms like some demented hairy space-crab.

The attraction to me of the Klingon episodes - in TNG, certainly, and for the most part here - is the politicking. While the portrayal of Klingons as basically feudal lords in space is silly to the point of breaking suspension of disbelief (honestly, there's no way any army that insists on using bladed weapons against

So [entering pedantic nerd mode] why does the universal translator decide to translate Klingon most of the time, but then drop it for large chunks?

I like "The Visitor" better than you do, but your criticisms definitely ring true - and I think it would be wrong to spend an entire week on just that episode (however well-done the episode is or isn't, there just isn't THAT much to say about it), especially if doing so would end up splitting the "Homefront"
