I love The Motion Picture - it's still criminally underrated, a victim, I think, of the (well-deserved) praise heaped on Wrath of Khan. And its sensibility is very much the TNG sensibility: we're explorers and scientists, trying to understand the universe, even when that universe is frightening and dangerous.

The contrast between All Good Things and First Contact goes to the heart of what's wrong with the TNG movies. All Good Things has Picard and his crew doing what they do all the time in the show, what they're supposed to be doing and what they're good at doing: exploring, solving cosmic mysteries, plumbing the weird

See, I think the fact that the only semi-passable Dax episodes are the ones that involve Worf only demonstrates how weak the Dax character was to begin with (really, she's not even a character so much as she's a high concept). For three seasons now, they haven't known what to do with Jadzia, other than tell

Not saying much, unfortunately. Still a solid episode, though.

"Perhaps another time, Mr. Worf."

Let's talk about makeup! I like that whoever did Martok's face went out of their way to put in every scar, welt, and scab - it's as perfect a visual introduction to the character as you could ask for.

Yeah - very solid work from Burns. But I definitely needed the re-read, what with the jumping around in time and between worlds. I'm really, really looking forward to Sugar Skull.
