Wow, you have a very different take on Craig than I do. He's walked us through the journey of becoming Bond. I see a lot of solid acting, the kind we haven't really seen, well…. ever before in the series. The shower scene alone in Casino Royale is enough to move Craig up 3 or 4 notches in the list.

I'll bite. Actor-wise, we've only had 2 English Bonds, and 5 Britsh Bonds. (Lazenby was Australian). I'd argue "Continuity" and "Bond is the same person since Dr. No", but it gets harder to make that stick with each new film.

Someone here suggested a series based on the 00s, allowing for whomever of any gender, race etc to be a 00, while leaving Bond his traditional self. Seems utterly reasonable to me.

I'm more commenting on the fact that everytime a long running series is brought up, the immediate cry is to recast with either an all female cast, a person of color, etc. Ghostbuster, Doctor Who, even Bond recently.
