I disagree. He repeatedly decided that the action scenes would be better if he kept cutting away to unrelated local colour, much to my perpetual annoyance. Continually doubting that Bond's derring-do is enough to engage the audience, is what prevents the auduence from caring.

I threw my £50 in to their piggy bank for the everything-boxset, and I semi-regret the purchase. The DVD transfers are just piss-awful, with artifacts galore, including some scenes that look like they were recorded from broadcast, then copied VHS-to-VHS. Oh, for @Automocar:disqus's restoration.
