The show had three separate moments I was actually surprised by - Admiral Shepard shooting Straw and Curry, Christine revealing she knew Paul was on the other side, and the ending where it's revealed that China has invaded Taiwan (a big gun to pull out plotwise). And here I was getting worried about Shawn Ryan.

I'm with the crowd on this - at this point I'd much rather have a clunker mystery with a strong character focus than vice versa. Suggests to me that the producers recognize what they need to do to realize this show's potential long-term. Nice to see that they've got their priorities straight.

This could've been a much more interesting show, but they simply weren't interested in making it.
Though I've said it before and I'll say it again - if I were one of Shonda Rhimes' friends, I'd be kind of concerned for her right now, given just how dark some of the material she's using is.
