Prof. Horatio, unfortunately Guided by Voices has beaten you to the task in a big way:
Jim Jarmusch is the Pixies
R. Crumb?
Let's not deny him his place in comics history. Even though he was almost strictly an underground cartoonist, his style sent nervous, squiggly ripples through the mainstream.
Agreed. How about we start a petition to make "A Salty Salute" the national anthem?
If only the Telegraph knew that a couplet rhymes.
I'm not saying that it's exclusively American, but you'd have to agree that America is perfect for the touring band, what with its college towns spread throughout and interstate highways. I'm not saying Americans invented the DIY punk lifestyle.
Our Band Could Be Your Life
That book really made me think about how American the whole "start a band, put out your own records, tour in a beat-up van" concept is. And frankly, that's what I love about rock music.
Silver Jews
Why does AV Club always use "Punks in the Beerlight" as the go-to video for Silver Jews-related posts? I'm a big Joos fan, but I think this song not only misrepresents the band's sound, but it's one of their worst. What about "I'm Getting Back Into Getting Back Into You" next time?
Idiocracy?
What about the courtroom scene when Joe gets harassed for sounding pompous and faggy?
The Good:
Jaws
Suspiria
Slacker
DiG!
The Clean usually reminds me of summer
Their music is just so carefree and sugar-coated. It totally reflects the laziness of these hot Austin summers.
Am I the first to notice
the AV Club commenters' Seth boycott?

Its a Good Lifeā¦
didnt do much for me. Maybe it will catch on the second time around.
Beelezebun's*
As an Austinite, I pity you.
Care of Cell 44
It's the only song that can elate me more than any Brian Wilson composition.
Is that
Edgar Wright at the New Beverly? Ah, the only place that makes me miss L.A.
