Too Many People is an awesome song. How Do You Sleep is a song you listen to once to find out how mad John was at Paul at the time.

After my guitar teacher had me learn Imagine recently, my bandmate and I discussed the idea of re-writing the lyrics to be completely Ayn Randian.  Then, of course, we decided that is wasn't worth it, since we'd still have the boring-ass music. (On the plus side, it was a great song for learning to use a thumbpick.)

I'm a bit surprised at peoples' reactions here. I watched this and was excited about the prospect of folks at the AV Club ripping it to shreds because this show was goddamned awful. I even told Mrs. Initiative that it might have been the worst thing I'd ever watched at the first commercial break.

I tend to give Rebecca Pidgeon a pass because I have a giant crush on her.  There is no good reason for it, either, as she's not all that attractive and is, as everyone that's ever seen her in anything, a horrible actress.  There's just something about her…

Time shares are not investments.  They don't save you money (you end up vacationing more and therefore spending more money) and don't increase in value (at least not in a way that one wants and investment to). The fact that timeshare sales people make the "investment" and "save money" claims makes them scum, since

I literally threw up my arms and yelled, "Yes!" when Ron ended up there.

I have those same counter tops in my (1970s) upstairs bathroom.

Believing that Islam contributes greatly to a culture that supports things like "honor" killing of rape victims doesn't make one a bigot. It's not Islam that is necessarily the cause of these things, it's the culture — but Islam does little to rid the culture of the many, many abhorrent practices in majority-Muslim

I remember that and his point was, I believe, about perspective.  He also also had a line in there somewhere about activists stepping over homeless people to throw paint at people wearing fur.

Video of a rehearsal they did for a planned show last year with Patti guesting on vocals for some of the stuff she wrote. Alas, the show itself was postponed and Patti couldn't make the rescheduled date.

@avclub-09edf2c698a3b122d8118387ce2642ff:disqus , we also agree on the one weak song on Treaties.

Mirrors would almost certainly be better received had the production been more akin to the earlier albums. Still, it does have "The Vigil" and "In Thee".

I'm going to agree that Secret Treaties is the group's masterpiece. And I'm something of and expert as my user name and 30+ live show will attest to.

Excuse me, what?

Thanks.

I was going to argue that Aerosmith invented the 80s power ballad with Dream On (which also came out in '73),  but since 80s power ballads are generally terrible and I hate Simple Man,  I think I'll go ahead and give Skynyrd the credit.

Working for MCA is great and I always liked On The Hunt and Tuesday's Gone. But Simple Man is a terrible, terrible song.

Someone I know saw a band recently do a mash-up of (I am not making this up) "Don't Stop Believing" and "Enter Sandman".  It was as awful as it sounds.

@avclub-5a1c0dcc8243c086c74ee944052f6f0f:disqus , the only 70s music that is allowed to be liked in the post-punk era is Bowie and Iggy Pop.  I learned this long ago from 80s college radio and still holds true today. Kurt Cobain could not possibly have like anything that wasn't at least as cool as, say, The
