I've never been a huge fan of BB's reliance on Chekov's gun/ricin/rug/book, but I found it fitting here.

"I thought you were the danger" is now my favorite call back of all time.

Pete's sweet relationship with his wife? While I vaguely remember her actually being in one episode of 30 Rock, I very vividly remember the "sleep bang" episode. Not sure if sweet is how i'd describe it, though in all fairness? I'm not married.

With you on Pine Bluff and Paper Hearts. I said it upthread, but I'll say it again: Paper Hearts is Duchovny's best acting TO DATE.

Grotesque is an underrated episode. Horrifying and a great use of that blue light John Bartley was so fond of.

Not only is Paper Hearts one of the show's strongest episodes, I think it's hands down Duchovny's best acting to date.

I think that was the point of Paper Hearts. Yes, it may be cliche to do the whole "omg evil can look so normal!" route, but I think it worked. And frankly, the opening dream sequence - along with the twinkly music and neon hearts - was among the best the show has ever done.

I loved the Unnatural when it came out, though in retrospect the ending is pretty lame. I refuse to believe Scully didn't know how to play baseball. REFUSE.
