Egerton held his own, I think he could carry a sequel all by himself just fine.

That legitimately felt like cut material. I mean it was bad to be sure, but it was so jarring that it must have been a victim of studio editing. For as much as I hate Sutter he's not THAT bad.

Oh man that whole storyline was so fucking bad.

That movie had a surprising amount of indie hype around it which just fizzled out into nothing upon release. I never saw it, but it was strange to see the reception from the outside.

I did somewhat enjoy the parts with Jake and his kid at the not-orphanage, at least it felt like people got to act there instead of just yelling or flexing muscles.

As someone who has never read any DFW books I was surprised at how much I enjoyed End of the Tour.

Southpaw was so generic it actually made me angrier at Kurt Sutter. If you're going to get a professional lunatic like him to write your sports film, at least have him do his thing instead of the most average boxing movie screenplay I've seen in years.

This. I loved Kingsman so much, such beautiful and well-constructed utter madness.

Who doesn't?

She's a bit more overtly comedic then KSD, but Leth is riding on her progressive/feminist coattails just the same.

"written by Kate Leth"

Man, that whole dream sequence is so good.

100% this.

I don't know, I think maybe the ending garnered enough goodwill from me that I was willing to overlook some of the issues. Mann was a smart enough director to just let the movie finish on a simple conversation between two very talented actors instead of some ridiculous setpiece.

The very same.

This sounds almost exactly like a 21st century Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, and you know how long that movie was?

At least American Ultra is no longer the most embarrassing thing Buster Bluth showed up in this year.

It just seemed like barely a movie, like an extended NBC comedy pilot that somehow fell into theatres.

The only reason I watched it was the director previously did THE TOURNAMENT which is one of the most insane American action movies of the past decade. HEIST isn't that, but it shows that maybe Mann could branch out and do something with at least a little more substance.

Wait seriously?
