How did Mason know Eve gave the FBI guy a bad address? Was he on the phone relating the bad news to Mason when Raylan showed up?

At the very least, if I hear a rattle and identify that sound as a rattlesnake, I would start walking back the way I came, not chuckle and proceed forward into a dark tent.
