My favorite of the animated movies is The Illusionist. Although I liked both Dragon and TS3. But I feel a little like Pixar is doing the same thing over and over (Slightly social outcasts go on unexpected journey and form makeshift family. Live happily ever after). I think they do it well, but I really wish they would

Six Shooter. One of my favorites. Awesome movie that won Best Short Film.

The only movie in a major category that I haven't seen is Biutiful. I've even seen four of the five nominees for Best Documentary. I did pretty well this year.

The Oscars really don't like Nolan. This is the third time he got a guild nomination and wasn't up for an Oscar.

The Fall is awesome.
I love that movie.

I'm still a bigger fan of the '89 Batman, but BR has grown on me. It has sentimental value, plus the cuteseyness of BR grates on me a little. And Michelle Pfeiffer barely beats out Nicholson performance-wise for me. But I still get a little frustrated by Batman villains in general just doing what they're doing for

Darn it
I was really hoping for Solomon Grundy - Nolan-style. I guess Bane is okay, too . . .

I'm going to test that theory this weekend. If I never post again, I'm probably dead. Or busy.

Revolution #9 is one of my absolute favorite Beatles tracks. Precisely because it's so weird and fun and unique. I also like the Liverpool Sound Collage stuff that Paul McCartney did about ten years ago. If I had to cut something from the White Album, it would be Obla Dee Obla Da. I can't stand that shit.

I wonder how badly box office performance would be hurt if . . .
ticket prices were reasonably priced. Particularly 3D tickets.

I enjoyed Tron Legacy a lot. I didn't love it, but it was a lot of fun. And Michael Sheen's ten minutes of screen time are absolutely awesome.

I forgot: I'm also waiting to see Amer and Buried. And if I was making a list just for pretty movies, it would have Valhalla Rising on it. That movie looks incredible.

I got to see it in Telluride. I loved it. At that time, I hadn't seen any Tati films, but then a local theater did a retrospective of all his movies. I've been saying The Illusionist is my favorite Tati movie cause it's the most bittersweet, and the animation looks incredible.

My List So Far
in alphabetical order . . .

I really liked Shutter ISland a lot, but it doesn't seem like an Oscar movie. Although I wish it were.

I think Shelly Duvall ended up outacting Nicholson in the end. She's great in that movie. But yeah, the technique seemed kind of ruthless.

McDowell must have given all his bravado to the role, cause he hasn't done anything since that is half as good - performance-wise. Well, maybe O Lucky Man!

Both Edith's near-rape episode and the episode where Beverly LaSalle (the transvestite) gets murdered are in the eighth season, which is getting released on DVD next month. Also, Gloria did get sexually assaulted in an earlier season. That show really did go to some dark places. Which is part of why I love it so much.

I saw it in theaters last summer. I suppose it's still upcoming somewhere. To someone.
