You don't need a lot of skill or talent to fire guns, especially a damn shotgun. It's probably the least necessary weapon to have any sort of training in.

On the contrary; the horrible terrible stuff needs to be there in order to make the good stuff REALLY good. They're two sides of the same damn coin. It's like you're complaining about a hero saving the day rather than just enjoying his morning cup of coffee — BORING.
One of the most earned and badass character developments I've seen in a long LONG time.
That may be true but it's easier to convince someone of photography as an objective art form compared to writing. There are a lot of people out there for whom I can put any number of words in argument to and remain unshaken in their firm belief that the art of writing is purely subjective; as if banging on pots and…
All the dialogue in the show is exactly what the character is thinking/feeling at the time. Of course it sounds unnatural; 1) Nobody talks like that, 2) Nobody knows their own feelings that perfectly, and 3) We can understand what people are thinking in tv and film just by watching what they DO.
There's a lot good about Game of Thrones but it lost all shock value, for me, a long time ago. The Red Wedding, for example, wasn't something I per se predicted but it wasn't exactly surprising to me when it happened. Game of Thrones uses tropes to identify who the heroes and villains are supposed to be — but tropes…
Fuck me and my memory you asshole!
The worst stuff IS the stuff they should keep. If it's not terrible then it's boring. If it's not more terrible than the last terrible thing you did it's also boring. Welcome to writing!
Yup.
He also could have pulled up his tent stakes and went home.
Will we get a nod to another famous role and have the townsfolk's skin start to slough off?
This show does you one better: Watching it makes you feel like you're the one in purgatory.
Punisher: War Zone is the movie I use as a yardstick example of how bad directors can make actors also bad. Julie Benz in particular is painful in this movie and it's not her fault. This movie was beyond terrible.
Of course this was in Stannis' character; nobody knows what their true character is until they're tested. Stannis didn't have to sacrifice his daughter as long as he had a functioning army but with no will to retreat and no other decisions he could make Stannis made the one that was true to his heart: Winning the…
Well yeah part of the reason a spin-off feels right to me is that the show needs its cast fundamentals to change in order to continue on; the finale made that clear.
A spin-off would necessitate new sets, they wouldn't use the old ones. The only show I know of that got away with this was Xena and that was for obvious reasons.
Breaking Bad was an oasis in a severely meh period of television. I'm thinking the season where the "big" hits were terrible shows like Flashforward and V. There's always been some good tv on but 2005-2010ish and 2014-present have had a huge glut of amazing works.
Sometimes it just works out like that. Sometimes really talented people can also make really dumb decisions for reasons that are entirely logical. The Beatles famously hated stereophonic sound — but after growing up learning and understanding and making your art in mono it's not so hard to imagine. Early stereo…
That's basically what I felt as well but I had some friends who, for whatever reason, were really into the show. For my money it only got more convoluted as time went on. I pretty much checked out when we had an episode with: present time in the future, present time in the present, flashbacks in the future from the…
There is certainly an objective standard for the production of art but no such standard for its enjoyment. Production is always part objective and part subjective while enjoyment is purely subjective (even as I personally find enjoyment in the adherence to objective standards).
Another thing I hate, though, is to hear…
