So, the AV Club staff has daddy issues. It reminds me of the time that TCM's Father's Day schedule included anti-father films, including LIES MY FATHER TOLD ME and I NEVER SANG FOR MY FATHER. But, for Mother's Day, they featured all sorts of positive films about mom. This is the worst kind of sexism.

I agree with everything in this article except the grade. I give the season a D.

Mr. MacReady, I wish that I had consulted you before I wrote my article on THE BUTLER.  That's a great list.  I am embarrassed to admit that I laughed out loud at BUTLERGEIST.  I want to see that movie.

"[T]he British Apprentice . . . [is] vastly superior to the Donald Trump version in
every way: classier, smarter, and funnier."

Jon Hamm is an actor who conveys masculinity and maturity.  He is, in my estimation, an actor with heft.  Hamm has said that he had a great deal of trouble getting work when he first came to Los Angeles and the most common complaint of casting directors was that he came across as being much older than his actual age.

Plausibility problems are mostly an issue when it comes to movies and television
shows that operate on a comic book level. These problems never existed for
"Hatufim," the Israeli show on which "Homeland" is based, because this earlier
series was focused on presenting true-to-life human drama. A show that
operates on

I still miss Sheehan.  I think that Sheenan was really concerned that he was going to become typecast if he continued to play Nathan.  Since he left the series, he has played characters that are nothing like the raunchy, rambunctious Nathan.  He is currently playing a classy young gentleman in a mediocre sitcom called

"Nobody Does It Better."  I think that song is about me.

One thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner.  I was a fan of David Simon's work, which I found to provide an intelligent and compassionate view of people.  But I now read this incoherent and hateful rant and I realize that I misunderstood the man all along.  Fuck David Simon.  Fuck TREME.

That poster for FROGS is great!

It can keep rolling without me.

I liked this article, but I am compelled to protest the notion of critics combing through movies and television shows in search of political subtext or metaphor.  PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS has an obvious political subtext that is worth exploring.  But I find on this site that political subtext is found in places where

It would be nice if, for just once, I could get through an AV Club article without having to deal with misandry.
