Correction - According to the ledger, the ship was heading from England to the Kingdom of Siam, still, that would take it in the right direction for a collision with the island (if it was near the same place at the time)

I think a course from somewhere in Europe to the Canary Islands, around the Cape of Good Hope to Mozambique (where Locke seemed to think it picked up mining equipment) towards Australia and getting wrecked somewhere in the Pacific would make sense.

A little gushing
Without even getting into the mythological aspects of tonight's episode, I have to say that this was one of the most impressively directed, edited, and acted episodes of Lost I have ever seen. The transitions between the beach camp conversation and Richard trekking through the jungle were very well

California is just a really, really nice place to live apparently.

Perhaps Jack and Juliet met and fell in love in medical school. That might fit the timeline of David being around 14 pretty nicely.

I feel that, if we HAD seen that moment it would have been Jack asking Dogan about Claire followed by Dogan responding cryptically in Japanese and slinking off down the corridor. All in true Lost fashion.

Jack destroying the lighthouse mirror really didn't bother me. I think we're well past the point where characters are looking for answers in the mystical objects of the island. He seems to realize that he's never gotten answers by following cryptic instructions to the letter. He wants answers from Jacob, and he

Her little makeshift skull baby is also majorly creepy. I can just picture her rocking that bassinet in the middle of the jungle night, singing "Catch a Falling Star".

Hmmm, interesting idea concerning David's mother. I think we definitely can't take it for granted that she is still Sarah Shephard. Did anyone see anything in the house that could give clues as to her identity?

I also can't wait for the Jack/Christian face off. As this episode reminded us, Jack has been chasing his father on the island since the very beginning of the series. I have no doubt that when they finally meet up it is going to be all kinds of epic. Though hopefully it ends better for Jack than Eko's run in with

Re: Claire's brand
I didn't get too good a look at it, but it appeared to be more like the branding that Sayid was subject too after they "tested" him. I'm guessing they were checking whether Claire was infected or not.

And even though I'm a fan of the Sobek as statue idea, I would point out that he is almost always depicted as wearing a tall feathered crown. The headpiece the statue is wearing is much more in line with depictions of Tawaret I've seen. Though it's possible that the writers intentionally ditched the feathered crown

I hope this doesn't set off another fierce Sobek/Tawaret debate like it did on page 1.

Maybe it was an Arrested Development reference.

Interesting theory. I'm not sure, though. Jack seemed pretty sure that one of the skeletons was female. Not that he would know absolutely, of course. But the man is a doctor who has seen a lot of x-rays, and I'm guessing the writers might think that makes him qualified in TV world to make that kind of call.

I didn't have a problem with their side story at all. I just don't see why we couldn't have gotten it at some other point than when we did.

Don't worry, Sensei. Laziness is my anti-drug.

Noel Murray sure loves himself some Pavement.

Alas, I am not. I spend enough time around here with one identity as it is.

I agree. I think I could watch them watching the Black Rock in the background over and over again. Not to mention that tapestry.
