Hahaha…Willy Wonka. I never thought of that comparison! I rewatched "The Masks" last night, and there's really nothing more to say than it is excellent. You can understand the disgust the old man has, with the understanding that all that human ugliness wound up (as in his children and grandchildren) came from him. One

WHAT'S WRONG WITH SOME COLOR IN YOUR FAMILY TREE?!?

That's pretty much the problem I had with Lil Wayne in his heyday.

I didn't know "Last Week Tonight" was eligible for Emmy nods this year, having just premiered in April. At any rate, I feel confident it'll be on the nominee list next year.

Ugh. Call me a rap nerd then. I've never understood the appeal of Jeezy. I bumped "The Recession" back when it came out and…it sucked.

The message may not be subtle, but to me it doesn't bring the episode down. But I'll get to my thoughts next week…

Next week I will come here to defend "I Am the Night—Color Me Black". It deserves some protection from you hateful commenters. I hope you, Zack, or whoever winds up reviewing it doesn't despise it.

Mike - can't disagree with you more on the Common verse on "Get 'Em High". I think it's very solid (and I'm not sure if you're arguing that the first line doesn't make sense, but it does.) If there was anything to complain about in that verse, for me, it'd be the strangely worded line "control rap is out of".

The scene towards the end where there's a girl wearing something that says "WWKD"…that shit made me cringe. It goes from disdain, and then after death, to reverence, veneration and eventual near-deification (you could say Kyle was a lot like Ronald Reagan.) It's a good film about how exactly people process death and

I love documentaries, but I'm never sure which ones pre-1990s (or even 2000s) are worth watching. Seems like with the world going to hell, the documentary genre really took off in the past 15-20 years. Most of these sound quite interesting…a little surprised "Exit through the Gift Shop" didn't show up, though.

Agree to disagree, he was definitely Liz's best s/o in my view.

Integortion.

Uh…Floyd?

I love Jack's childlike happiness with all the catchphrases he coins.

Oh man, one of the best episodes next week. But these aren't too shabby either. In fact, both are excellent.

For someone with no soul, Steve King of Iowa is surprisingly physically weak.

No! (a quote from Sideshow Bob as Homer prepares to drive through a field of cacti)

So, for a few minutes, I thought about this and came up with nothing. Then it hit me: to hear Jeru the Damaja's "The Sun Rises in the East". I would want to do it while driving around 1994 Manhattan at night when/where the World Trade Center towers still stood proudly, listening to DJ Premier's best production ever

That's exactly the way I feel about "Spanglish".

Absolutely, I remember hearing Mac's collaboration with DJ Premier a few years back and just…forgetting it minutes later. But "Watching Movies" was the most pleasant surprise I've gotten from a rapper in years.
