Mexican Standoff
The Mexican standoff gag was done better by The Office in 'Murder', but at least Cougar Town had the good grace to name their influences (Travis actually said "Spaced" as he fell to the floor").

Ooops, you did say "outside of primates", my bad.

If Karl Pilkington is to be believed (and he isn't), Monkeys also indulge in prostitution.

The voiceover in the American version implicitly makes some of these points by anthropomorphising the Penguins. The religious right then latched on to them for their own nefarious ends.

I've been unfair there really, the film itself isn't disingenuous, it's the way that right-wing religious types have co-opted the film that's disingenuous. Guess I shouldn't really blame Freeman for that. But I do.

It's really this year's Ugly Betty:

Wait…
I bet it was just Jay Pharoah.

@Reformed Calvinist - I'm with you on the Drew Barrymore hate. She's one of those people that the media seems to think is delightful, but I just find her to be grating.

@fastandsloppy - I urge you to retry Cougar Town. Indeed the first five minutes (in fact, the first five episodes) were shit, but it's changed quite dramatically and is really rather excellent.

Hold on..
Morgan Freeman is annoyed at the idea that people might think he endorsed some politician, yet he willingly put his voice to that disingenuous bullshit March Of The Penguins? Fuck you Freeman.

You are all child abusers. How dare you talk about a magazine spread in which women in their twenties who play girls in their teens on TV appear mostly clothed.

I have no issue with her, she's a perfectly average actress and a seemingly normal human being.

I do think I'm somewhat missing the point of the show too, as I tend to tune out (mentally or literally) as soon as they start singing.

Yeah, it's true, they're not a very gleeful bunch. And the show certainly doesn't fill me with glee. In fact at the end of each episode I feel emotionally bereft.

Why?
Christ, Glee is a shit show. So why the hell do I keep watching it? Seriously, any idea?

@fastandsloppy - I could never stay angry at someone with a Zardoz avatar.

Any scene he shared with Hayden Panettiere was like watching an acting masterclass between a sturdy piece of oak and a firm lump of pine.

Oh man, I thought I was the only one who did this!

Oh, he was a hell of a footballer, no doubt. But strap a pair of ice skates on him and he was a mess, he looked like bambi on, well, ice.

I like how the description of the show stressed the fact that the character is straight, like it's a totally unheard of profession for a straight man.
