I've a pretty taste for paradox.

@avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus That Monty Python sketch always annoyed me because of it's lack of character development.

Or like characters singing a Bob Dylan song on a spaceship headed for prehistoric Earth.

There was also the issue that every female character on Ally McBeal ranged from unusually thin to disturbingly thin, as did every non-Eleanor Frutt female character on The Practice.  And Portia de Rossi did admit to being anorexic, and dangerously so.  And there were regular storylines about the

(1) The Wire is set in Baltimore, not Greece and (2) Baltimore, Greece and Rome are all part of the same universe with the same laws of physics.  If you insist on the same characters, setting and general situation, another example would be the Civil War and the Reconstruction.  They happened right after another and

But sequels and prequels WITHIN this universe aren't a problem.  Does anybody dismiss The Wire by saying that it's impossible to generate new drama with the rules that were already established in Rome?

Not sure I agree.  The real universe has a more in depth history and a more rigid set of rules than any fictional universe and it still seems to come up with some pretty good drama.

Hey, Noel.  When you start Angel Season 5, you should pay attention to the opening credits.  It uses the same tune, but different images.  In particular, in the credits for the first 4 seasons, you have the bit where the percussion comes in and it shows Angel busting through a door.  In season 5, you have the same

I second the artist and the album.  The only reason I didn't mention him in my list was because Scottish folk is a genre unto itself even if Scotland is technically part of Britain.  Still brilliant.

Oh, we'll worship like the Druids,
Drinking strange fermented fluids,
And run naked through the woods;
It's good enough for me.

If you're trying to placate those who really have no interest in the genre then it's not a Gateway to Geekery.  It's a Gateway to Having One Token Album in Your Collection.

He became a salmon farmer, but that's not a government position.

Less poppy?  This "Top of the Pops" promo video for Steeleye Span's "All Around My Hat" would beg to differ:

The problem with Fairport's self-titled is that it sounds too much like yet another psychedelic rock album from the 60s.  There's a difference between showing people that folk music can be good and showing people that folk musicians are capable of playing non-folk music.  And why would anybody want less Morris dancing?

True, but if you want a band like The Pogues that plays genuinely British folk punk you can always go for The Men They Couldn't Hang.

And some British folk singers and bands that don't have enough rock to qualify as British folk-rock, but which you may also enjoy.

Some other British folk-rock suggestions:

You might try "The Mysterious Stranger".  It tones down the Americana in favor of Austriana.
