No fog, no fun.
No fog, no fun.
A suggestion: Rose-Marie (1936)
I gather this was pretty popular in its day, but now it's only available on old VHS tapes. It is the quintessential "Singing Mountie" movie that was the inspiration for Dudley Do-Right, Klondike Kat, Monty Python's lumberjack song and the Royal Canadian Kited Yacksmen from Ren &…
60s Week?
I seem to recall that NBC was airing a miniseries called "The 60s" and, to promote it, they declared one week "60s Week" where all of the shows airing that week had to have a 60s theme and that's why "Hair" happened. I can't remember what the other "60s Week" episodes were, though.
OK, Ukridge. Then, how about this Gilbert & Sullivan bit?
Cole Porter
I've come to wive it wealthily in Padua.
I hear you say, "Gadzooks, completely mad you are!"
Green Lantern is shorter, wins.
No, he didn't think they got to make Ratatouille, Up, and Wall-E because they were somehow above churning out Dreamworks fare. He thought "Cars 2" wasn't very good. Didn't you read the review?
Dave Sim!
Here's the ordering of the episodes:
But are you kicking around any other British mini-series that take precedence? And if so, is it Hitchhiker's Guide or Tom Jones?
You should do an episode from the BBC "I, Claudius" adaptation. I'd suggest "Poison is Queen" where Livia's plan comes to fruition. I'd be especially interested in using it to discuss the evolution of historical fiction in television, comparing it to HBO's "Rome".
I'm sure the comparisons will stop once we get to Book 2. At least, assuming M. Night doesn't make any sequels before then.
What about Varg Vikernes?
Bogie de-glammed even more for "The Caine Mutiny".
Aguirre, the Wrath of God
Popol Vuh. Nuff said.
It turns out that Gormogon's apprentice is Zack.
Didn't that Hitler joke from "The Gymnast" . . .
. . . get Mr. Pitt banned from Cannes?
@Palmer45: John Swartzwelder wrote some of the worst episodes of the Scully years. "Maximum Homerdrive", "Kill the Aligator and Run", "A Tale of Two Springfields", "Simpson Safari" and "The Frying Game" (okay, that last one was post-Scully). So if you're going to bring back Swartzwelder you have to teleport him…
All they showed was Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn getting married and having nooses placed around their necks. For all we know they could be ceremonial wedding nooses. Or maybe the ship will blow up at the last minute allowing them to escape. You'll never know unless you see the movie.
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
You, know, that movie that was made about Pee-Wee's big adventure in the movie "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure". With James Brolin as Pee-Wee.
