I believe Chupacabras is referring to "Jump Start" by Robb Armstrong:

Verne Troyer

I know what you mean, man. I can't watch the Harold and Kumar movies without thinking "Hey, that guy who's playing Neil Patrick Harris is Neil Patrick Harris". It just completely takes me out of the movie.

I seem to recall that when "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" came out that most people walked out of the theater liking it (including Keith Phipps) but the more they thought about it afterwards the more they realized that it sucked. I think the same thing will happen with "Not Your Father's Star Trek".

You should try morris dancing as much as possible.

The real tragedy of The Doors was that Jim Morrison died before ever getting a chance to appear on The Muppet Show. If he had done "People Are Strange" as a duet with Sweetums the Ogre the backlash never would have happened.

"Lady Diamond" by Steeleye Span is especially great because at first it seems like it's just a cheesy song about a princess who loves the kitchen boy instead of the nobles. But then the last verse comes.

That last sentence
"With any luck, it won't take another four years for Phair to produce a new album; here's hoping that when she does, it's as good as this one."

That Autechre review was based on the Achilles/Tortoise conversations in Douglas Hofstadter's "Godel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid", which was itself based on Zeno's paradox, so Todd was really ripping off Zeno of Elea, not Dominique Leone.

She's, like, totes into reading John Steinbeck and stuff, especially "East of Eden".

Wall of Sound
For a different sort of Wall of Sound check out "Metastasis" by Iannis Xenakis:

I think it's pretty clear that she hit a phouka.

1-8 are the golden years. The cracks started showing in season 4 with "Marge in Chains" going completely off the rails and "Krusty Gets Kancelled" starting the let's-get-a-bunch-of-celebrity-guests-to-play-themselves-just-because-we-can trend that Mike Scully loved so much. But just because the cracks were showing

The one with the SPECTACULARLY poor animation (or is it SPECTACULARLY daring and avant garde?) was "Some Enchanted Evening" with the babysitter bandit. And Gabor Csupo insisted there was nothing wrong with the animation and that the problems were all in the writing.

I suppose this episode does make that point to some extent, but I think Season 4's "Last Exit to Springfield" makes the point more forcefully.

Black Smithers
I know this probably exposes me as an embarrassing mom who doesn't appreciate the daring imagination of east European avant garde animation, but I didn't like that they made Smithers black in this episode.

There's this crazy thing little called a "metaphor". Perhaps you've heard of it.

The Buffy season 3 finale was postponed until July in the US because of the Columbine shootings. And "Earshot" was postponed until September.

If you like the talking hot dog in Season 2 . . .
You'll LOVE the talking hamburger in Season 3.

In the book they specifically refer to the fact that mezzo-sopranos tend to play boys (like Cherubino in "Le nozze di Figaro") and thus often perform in drag.
