@avclub-68e2d80b9b9b5fb87b80f88eff74eece:disqus , I read someplace that Dick Whitman is actually a few years younger than the real Don Draper. Dick may not have been old enough to serve in WWII.

Yes. I was blown away. I don't think he's ever done anything as grown up and responsible before.

Don would sell in two seconds if it suited him. Every single share, all at once, with no thought to the effect it would have on the share price or the other owners.

Yeah, he definitely should have abandoned his children.

Pete tried to tell Don about the IPO, but Don just couldn't be bothered to accept his dinner invitation. Pete even said he had something important to tell Don, for Christ's sake.

Agreed. I love the show for all the obvious reasons, and Jon Hamm is terrific in the role, but I really tire of the worship Don Draper attracts from so many people. He's an asshole and a user.

There was also the play off of the Electric Circus that probably made them want to use it.

Yeah, it was Lee Garner, Jr., all over again.

Yeah, I remember the first time I visited NYC. It was almost eerie how familiar it seemed.

Not that he was much of a modernist, but Mad Men reminds me a lot of Kingsley Amis' novels of the 1960s. Similar not-very-nice characters and off-kilter reactions and dialogue, and of course the era.

What do you mean by "invited to the inner circle of the powers that be"?

Bobby's probably old enough to have gotten interested in Spider-Man or The Fantastic Four.

There was a Kodak Carousel in its box behind Don in his office.

That also seems to show that Trudy didn't follow through on throwing Pete out. If he can make the place available for others to use overnight, he must not live there all the time.

Probably because for the people who do want kids it's such a deeply-felt urge that they can't imagine not wanting kids. Heck, it's so deep it's not even really an urge. You just know you're going to have kids.

She's also not keeping to the deal she proposed to Walter. I doubt that going out of her way to be as unpleasant as possible in front of others is being "any kind of partner he wants".

I agree. I read his reaction to Skyler's statement that she is waiting for it to come back as slightly amused. It also explains his increasingly reckless behavior. He knows for a fact that he won't be around much longer in any case.
