Agree Fowle misses some things, but this wasn't one of them. It was a receiver.
Too lazy to go back and grab the exact quote, but Wendy's "that takes a lot of balls/how you gonna do it with no balls" dialogue were nails on a chalkboard.

The horse was coming down in class off a win. As a trainer, he is as privy to the tricks of the trade as Escalante. Even if he's wrong, and the horse is actually unsound, a miss on an $8,000 is goofing off money.
Ticket would have been $3,240
To clarify all of the confusion about Escalante's tickets: Both were win tickets. One was for $1,000, the other for $2,000. The horse paid $26.40 to win. Dude effectively has a $3000 win ticket, but that's a $2 ticket which means he should get back $26.40 X $1,500, not X$3,000.
