I never really wanted Ben and Laura to work out, if for no other reason than Ben was way too self-centered to ever be a good partner to Laura, but both characters were likable enough that I can see why you'd ship them. I think one of the main reasons I rank Katz over Bob is that the quality level is more variable in

You're right. However, I give the standup bits a pass because it was one of the best showcases for up-and-coming comedians at the time. Louis CK, Mitch Hedberg, Patton Oswalt, Ray Romano, Ben Stiller, Jon Stewart, Bob Odenkirk, Marc Maron, David Cross, Jim Gaffigan, Dave Chappelle, Jeff Garlin, Sarah Silverman and Tom

To your theory's credit, Dr Katz features a "rotary cell phone" joke in 4 of its 81 episodes. Other than that, I don't find it too repetitive, though I guess a case could be made that so little happens throughout the series (the characters literally have no arcs, no evolution and no purpose) that the lack of forward

Yeah, I've been a Home Movies fan forever, and always liked Dr. Katz, but it wasn't until I managed to snag the complete run of Dr. Katz on DVD that I really realized how strong of a show it was.

Simpsons (Classic) is the only weekly feature on this site that I read religiously. Even though Rabin's reviews could, at times, be less of a critical dissection and more of a re-telling of the plot, the comment sections (even on the shitty reviews) were always worth reading each week and ranged from pure hilarity to

Yeah for real. This is the first celebrity death in a while that gave me a pang of sadness. Maybe it's because I've been using his autobiography as bathroom reading recently. Or maybe it's that he just announced yesterday that he'd be taking some time off and died the next day. Pretty impressive that he was dedicated

Easily one of the best ever, and when it's at its peak, I think it's even more powerful than The Sopranos of The Wire. That said, I think both those series are slightly better than Deadwood when taken as a whole, but being #3 to those

I think it was on Sepinwall's blog where I read that Jim is not just active, but incredibly active on IMDB, to the point where he's published dozens of synopses (is that the correct plural of synopsis?) for shows and movies that he wasn't even affiliated with. Just another reason to admire the guy.

@Dollar Bill Wirtz

Wasn't Kanye quoting 50 Cent in the article's main image? And wasn't 50 Cent quoting Lloyd Banks in his? I don't have a point here, really, just askin'.

Or Faustino.

It's certainly a YA book, but it was never classified as such. If it came out today, it'd be released as YA, but in 1999, unapologetically talking about abortion and homosexuality were likely deemed a bit too "adult".

I agree that the book is severely lacking in many places, but here's why reading my friends copy of this book was important to me as a teen and still holds a special place for me:
