When I saw the thumbnail for this, I thought for sure it was Ana Faris and Alison Janney in "Mom", and I thought that the show went through a name change or the AV Club classified it under the wrong name. I thought this for way too long.

And wasn't this "revealed" months ago? I certainly already knew "teenage Norwegian tourist" before clicking this link. Not that I care or anything, but this was already covered when Serial was airing and people still cared/talked about it.
Funny, I mentioned the same points about FemC's absence in response to a post above, before I even saw yours.
I like FemC better too, but it actually helps Atlas here to stick with one or the other. Considering they had to develop two routes of a lonnng game, this would add two more new scenarios they'd have to develop: a) P4 MC as PQ MC with P3 FemC voiced, and b) P3 FemC as PQ MC with P4 voiced (it will change his…
Don't forget the atrocity that is "My Sister, My Sitter." That episode makes this one look genius by comparison.
It's atmospheric in the same way that I feel Hearts in Atlantis (the title novella from the book, not the low men in yellow coats story that was adapted into a movie called "Hearts in Atlantis", which was a stupid idea anyway because it was essentially a Dark Tower spinoff story). I wonder if it's just because they…
Strawberry Spring is a very similar story from Night Shift that would be much much better to adapt. Unfortunately it's about 8 pages long, but it would be a great thing to adapt for a horror anthology series. Looks like someone already did a crappy adaptation of it though (likely a "dollar baby" production) — http://ww…
That's exactly why Gestahl's death didn't matter to me. The man had a lot of blood on his hands. He enslaved Terra as a killing machine. He occupied many towns that had little to no strategic purpose (what did he really gain at South Figaro, besides a shitty port)?
Exactly.
Yeah, but sometimes you go to the ocean and there's only a slow fish there. And every 30 seconds or so, Cid's health decreases, so it's not like you can keep going back.
Yeah, I've heard a lot of people say they thought they had beaten the game after they beat the Motor Ball and escaped Midgar. Of course, those people had to completely ignore the fact that there are still two other discs to the game, but I've still heard that multiple times.
Hm, perhaps you are right. It's been about 5 years since my last playthrough on the GBA. I actually started playing the DS version recently, but I'm only up to the "spoony bard" scene, and put it aside to do a FemC run in Persona 3 Portable, since I've never done a first round max social link run with the female…
Yeah, it's definitely worth it. I think they just released it on Steam, too. I played it on the PSP though. There are a couple weird difficulty spikes, and sometimes it gets a bit more tactical than I like in my RPGs (I'm not a huge fan of gridded battles), but the story more than makes up for any of the small…
At the time, there was nothing in history with the scope and the beauty of FFVII. It's hard to tell anyone who has grown up on newer systems just how mind-blowing they were at the time, but there are so many moments in FFVII that were vast, incredible achievements in the JRPG genre, Aeris' death being one of many.…
Aeris, selling flowers in the grittiness of Midgar during the opening sequence, is the first face you see in the game. On my first playthrough at 13 or 14, I did what I felt made sense and kept her in my party, in part because I felt it was Cloud's duty to make sure she stayed out of Shinra hands. Without her in the…
There's also's Cid's sacrifice in FFIV, which turns out not to be a full sacrifice, but in the moment it's a beautiful way to go.
I'm amazed the article didn't mention that at all. It comes immediately after the Shadow moment, and saving/not saving him basically comes down to luck of the draw and the fish you choose, but his death and the toll it takes on Celes is way more emotionally resonant for me, considering that Shadow, if in any way,…
Not to mention that Aldon herself is a consulting producer on the show (though, if IMDB is to be believed, she wasn't credited as such on Pamela, but I assume she still was allowed creative input and was not given the producer credit due to her large role in the episode.
I find it really interesting that you say "it could really be the first season of a different show", because these were the first episodes of The Shield that I watched. When I watched, it was so easy for me to pick up on what was going on and who had done what, it actually turned me off the show.
Luckily for Busfield, Philip Seymour Hoffman's corpse couldn't be reached for the role. According to his agent, it was a "scheduling conflict", but we all know PSH wouldn't be caught dead in a bit part on Sleepy Hollow.
