I'm going to have to disagree with you here: The Nexus might have worked in a fantasy franchise, but is totally inexcuseable in science fiction. Even the laziest, stupidest devices that Star Trek ever employed at least attempt a veneer of science. The Nexus is an energy stream composed of pure bullshit.
