I don't really get the "love" thing. Not entirely sure that that's what they're going for, but if they are, then it's kind of inconsistent. Several of our other Sideways characters have met/encountered their lost loves without incident. Sayid and Nadia, Sun and Jin, Jack & Kate/Sawyer & Kate, etc.

@ Curtis — I used the term "Science" there, mainly due to the title of the S2 opener "Man of Science, Man of Faith". At its core though, this conflict between science and faith is really a conflict between logic and emotional intuition, a right brain/left brain kind of thing. MiB has never acted with a shred of

I was just going to start a new thread about something similar, but I'll just piggy-back onto yours as it's related. I also hadn't considered commerce as a third side in the Faith v. Science struggle. Interesting…

I'm a big fan of Sun and Jin as well — House of the Rising Sun and In Translation were two of my favorite eps from the first season. Neither character has been defined by one idiosyncratic trait a la Kate or Jack and are, thus, the most realistic of our original crew. Just two mismatched, strong-willed people in love.

Croc-o-Sayid
I loved the reptilian way Sayid came gliding through the water in that final scene. That was nicely shot and played.

Better Luck Tomorrow
Don't think anyone's mentioned it, but someone tells John Cho "Better luck tomorrow" in H&K Go To White Castle referencing his earlier charcter/film, Better Luck Tomorrow.

Hawk the Slayer was rubbish!

Things People Think About Critics
As I've mentioned on here once or twice before, I review books for a local paper here in NYC so I have some perspective on this from the critics' POV.

I kind of agree with what you're saying, Jyqm. The most recent piece that elicited that response from me was the post about whether or not today's musical artists are too prolific. That piece began by stating that, in the same span of time, Animal Collective and The Beatles have produced (nearly down to the minute)

I finally got around to watching it a year or two ago, and I didn't think it was nearly as good as it's made out to be. The central problem is the casting; JB and OW should have been playing each other's roles. I'm fairly convinced that the show would have gotten picked up had this been the case.

I was one of the folks espousing this theory. Every week it seems more and more plausible. (Especially last night after MiB told Richard that Jacob "stole my body".) Everyone who comes to the Island has had an internal conflict between Reason and Faith; they've been confronted with bona fide miracles that have no

I hear Corey Haim has been signed to play Don's aborted son, Topper.

I've actually never seen a mumblecore movie (or read much about them) — and, frankly, have no desire to. They don't sound very interesting.

@ LP — So Godard was the inventor of Mumblebore? Cause your 5 "Rules" could apply to most of Godard's work in the 60s.

Plenty of too-cool-for-school assholes would probably say that, Jorge. Most normal, well-adjusted people who didn't really care for Garden State could care less.

Thanks, God! I saw "the Others" and just assumed that was Lost-related.

@ Jorge — Ok…now I'm even more confused. I just Wiki'ed Dallas, and Kristin was the one who shot JR. So that one's accurate…

I vaguely remember my parents watching Dallas when I was a kid, but beyond the fact that JR gets shot and that one of the seasons was a dream (or something), I know pretty much nothing about it.

@ Jorge — "The Protagonists are The Others"??? How many years old is that thing?

Fuck Phil?
