That was an awesome interview, and its great to see the AV Club balance out some of the more alternative hip-hop sites (like the Lower East Side streetcorner from the Paul's Botique album cover) with an old-school Bronx location.  The Major Deegan Expressway runs through some rough areas (though maybe not quite as

Rosamunde's personality, and the actress' looks, are totally believable as the daughter of Maggie Smith.  That is one of the best-cast parts on the entire show.

I lost my original copy of this album; I just picked up an old used version at Reckless Records last weekend.  I would have waited for the reissue, had I known it was coming out!  But its allright - few indie rock albums justify owning more than one copy as much as this one.

I know, right? With Mad Men on hiatus for more almost a year at this point, the Don Draper Fingerbang Threat Index is all of the way up in the red. Plus, it would be a great winking in-joke to the audience.

The real question on everybody's mind is: "how long until an A.V. Club commenter takes the handle Gale Boetticher, or some variation thereon?"

Anna Gunn's Plastic Surgery
Anna Gunn's new face really bothered me in this episode, perhaps because she spent so much more time on screen than she did in the season premiere. To be honest, though I knew something about her was different, it didn't occur to me until I read Donna's comment about it after the episode,

Cameo - did you Shazam those songs? If you knew them off the top of your head, then I bow down before you - that's some obscure stuff right there.

I would like to thank the contributors to this thread who just introduced "gay laser thermometer" and "handjob resistance challenge" to my lexicon. My world is richer for it.

Yes - Hornberger!
I have to agree with Todd - Pete Hornberger is a very funny character, and, like Liz and Jack but unlike Tracy, Jenna, Kenneth, Frank, or Twofer, he's a real human being instead of a comic type. The episode where he has to scramble to prepare for his anniversary (or is it his wife's birthday?) is

This is fantastic.
That office looks like a fun place to work, and the employees seem to love their jobs. It reminds me of Ardent Studios in that way. Good job.

Todd gave this show a "D"
BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT FRANKLIN AND BASH GIVE THE LADIES. WOOO-HOOO!!! HIGH-FIVE!!!

"Bad" video in real life
My subway line is sometimes re-routed through the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station in Brooklyn, where the Bad video was filmed, when they're doing maintenance on the tracks. After seeing it so often in Bad and then in Fat, its weird to see that station full of people in suits commuting to

Speaking of Recording Studios
This was really cool. Is it possible that Merge Records will be featured in a future installment of Pop Pilgrims? It seems as if it would be a natural fit, and Mac and Laura would give great interviews.

What a Terrible Summer
Another strong entry in the series. I'll always remember that summer as one of the worst summers of all-time from a pop music perspective. It was redeemed, to a certain extent, by some good indie albums, but there was basically nothing on pop radio worth remembering.

Thanks, guys! I knew that Allen's album had been released as a download, but I wanted something to hold in my hands. I didn't realize it had been retitled. I also hadn't realized the Stax album was out, either.

Three great albums that will never be available on CD
Its Christmas Time Again (Stax Christmas Album from the late 70's)
Woody Allen: The Night Club Years (1964-68)
Bobby Short: Live at The Cafe Carlyle (not "Late Night at the Cafe Carlyle," which is available on CD)
