Well, when that flashback at the end of season one is shown, we do indeed see Uncle Pete saying "it's done" followed by a shot of Patty on her cell, hanging up, and then hysterically crying. They even went out of their way to show a flashback within the flashback to point to the specific reason why (Ellen's "Do you

Thank you for that! I played it back three times before I realized it was another language.

I think you get into dangerous territory by actually trying to depict anything even somewhat technical on a TV show and they were really doing so throughout this one, which took me out of the episode a bit.

I only dislike them when you don't really have an idea what in the world they're about, as was the case with that horse in season three. This I didn't mind because the message is clear and hits on the core of the show - Patty's relationship with Ellen. Plus it was just a pretty cool, striking image.

I think this is the most promising start to a season in quite a while for the simple fact that the flash-forward directly involves both Patty and Ellen. In season three, Ellen was mostly extraneous and in season four, both of them were, which the show suffered a bit for. The case has a ways to go to prove compelling

So funny you should mention Saw. I've often thought of the two in the same way because, in their respective mediums, they may indeed be the franchises most defined by a twisty nature.

The Ray Charles flashforward absolutely was awesome. That's what kept me enthralled all season. I also enjoyed the Uncle Pete portions of it. But the case was a dud and they didn't ultimately deliver in the finale. Patty randomly stabbed in the elevator? Ellen shooting at a CAMERA and entirely forgiving Patty without

I think you really hit on something when mentioning pieces not seeming like parts of a larger scheme. It's a great way to sum up my main problem.

I started noticing that in season three actually. The production values for the first two were top notch but since then everything appears to have a brighter hue.
