Their story is as tragic as anything ever on the screen.

And yes, even upon Lucretia and Batiatus.

Upon Barca.

We know the horrors that will be inflicted upon Crixus.

Had the season ended here, it wouldnt have been happy.

Batiatus loses his man, but his sights are already on a certain Gaul…

Gannicus has lost the woman he loves, and is not much released, as he escapes.

Batiatus loses his best man, but at what cost?

Gannicus ends up free, but at what cost?

With this season, Spartacus is cemented as a story of tears and pain, no matter what happens.

A true person.

It is nothing short of fantastic, the way he was created.

The poor man…

His is perhaps one of my favorite characters I've ever seen or read, in any medium.

Rarely has a character displayed such emotions with nary a word spoken, as Gannicus does.

Regret.

And with it comes melancholy.

Yet here comes GODS OF THE ARENA.

And they sack the whole city and Spartacus dies old and content.

Perhaps we could make our own conclusion in our heads, one where Spartacus actually makes Rome crumble.
