Perhaps the glowing reviews come from people who haven't been near this type of slow, personal suffering and thus are very taken by the whole thing. I have been near it (my dad), like you, and the film didn't make me feel anything either.

Agreed with 'Silence of the Lambs'. Where the HELL is 'Silence of the Lambs'? It's not even on the orphans and exclusions list that was just published. It deserves Top 20 honors for "It puts the lotion in the basket" alone.

It's amazing that I can watch Breaking Bad s05e08, then this episode right after, and not be like 'Ugh'. This is a great show. Against all odds. Period.

Yeah, agree with @avclub-40e90db13ab31c7efd64228034182c2e:disqus - the second season of The Wire was an integral part to the puzzle that is Baltimore, though I must admit that it's my least favorite season.

I think the reason most people got upset with Lost in the later seasons was because the writers/creators kept saying that they had some sort of 'master plan' when really they were making it up as they went along and unfortunately proved incapable of keeping it all straight themselves.

I know of at least three people who bought the 'Game of Thrones' Blu-Ray at €36 / $50 a piece because I kept harassing them about how great it was. So did I steal from HBO by torrenting/sharing it or did I earn them 150 bucks? Only god will judge me.

There is only one credit sequence I watch completely with every episode and that's 'True Blood'. It's just soooo good.
