"It should be hard. I like that it's hard. Putting your daughter
through college, that's-that's a man's job. A man's accomplishment. But it should be a little easier.
Just a little easier. 'Cause in that difference is… everything."

You mean the LIfetime stuff he's done OUTSIDE of the regular TV series' he's starred in ever since he left West Wing?

Ah, the eternal debate.  Is it "pay OR play" or is it "pay FOR play"?

Did I hear that the repeating got to someone?

I introduce people to The West Wing via Sports Night.  I think that the pacing & style of the dialog is easier to get acclimated to via short episodes that are fairly self-contained.  Jumping right in to West Wing, it's easy to miss a line that's important but won't pay off for several episodes.

Yeah, I've never understood why some of the writers for this site apologize for long articles.  If it's a topic I'm interested in enough to click through, I WANT it to be an in-depth, meaty article which leads to an even longer comment section.  Fuck the people who don't want to read.  There's plenty of other internet

No intelligent, reasonable person hates it.  Maybe it's not their cup of tea (Maybe they don't like solid acting or good dialog or whatever you know?) but if you HATE A Few Good Men, you're neither intelligent or reasonable.

You harp about "habitual contriver of maudlin, melodramatic, self satisfied pseudo intellectual smarm" and then bring Daniel Day-Lewis into the conversation?

This show is in my top 5 shows of all time.  I revisit it regularly (most recently a few months ago with a friend as a precursor to her watching West Wing.) but do find myself cringing at some of the painfully awkward & unfunny repetitive stuff.  The "getting the call" schtick is far and away the worst of the bunch.

I see what you did there @avclub-c784e81410ae74f2c46c135d2db5e0f8:disqus

What exactly is it that he's done which renders him a national treasure?  I've been aware of him since his Mork days and have never once found him amusing.  He's been tolerable (at best) in his dramatic roles, but that hardly puts one into "national treasure" territory.

I propose Jay Sherman.  I believe that he could describe this show succinctly.
