D'oh! Okay, I take it back. I honestly don't mean to insult you, Todd (or myself for that matter), your tone just gets to me sometimes. You're a good sport though, so I'll try to keep my criticisms confined to specific points I disagree with rather than utterly failing at picking apart your psyche.

I'm actually surprised
they didn't let ZMF do the interview. Way to show restraint, AV Club.

Yeah, that line went a long way toward explaining why I have such a problem with Todd's writing. As someone just coming up on 30 in a couple weeks I can tell you there is a HUGE difference in that five or six years. For instance, it explains the arrogance and self-importance of Todd's writing and the fact that he

Better Late Than Never
Since TV Club started this has been the one show I watch on a regular basis that hasn't been covered at all, so I'm glad you gave it a nod, VanDerWerff. I mostly agree with your assessment, but I think you gloss over the fact that the show could surprise us at times with sudden moments of great

I welled up a couple of times, but the part that really got me was Shalhoub's performance when he breaks down while watching Trudi's video and starts trying to reach her through the screen. I wish they'd gotten someone other than Jan to play her, though, it always made it hard not to think of her as a bitch.
@Holy Hand

You had me at number one
I just glanced over this list becoming increasingly agitated at many of the choices, but your number one is also mine and that is a satisfying note on which to round out this decade.

Sexiest celebrity overbite?

D'oh! I knew I should have checked imdb before posting. Apparently it is I who is the misrememberer. It was Helen Slater, not Meg Ryan in that movie, so Ms. Hines was likely referring to Bette Midler after all.

Ruthless People
Bette Midler being held captive is funny, but I don't think it would've worked if Meg Ryan was playing the captive as Ms. Hines seems to be misremembering it.

Hmm. I guess it takes awhile for profile changes to take effect. Dammit. It shows the right pic while I'm typing but when I post it changes to my usual one. Oh well, here's another comment, anyway.

Well, there's never going to be a better time to bust out my old school avatar. Wish I would've thought of it before we got to nearly 1,000 "reasonable discussions".

Most controversial. BLTN Entry. Ever.
Well, we did it. Congratulations everyone, by the rules of geekdom Genevieve now has commit seppuku.

I see you overlooked the clause which allows for mentioning of the holocaust as long as it's in a ridiculous enough fashion so as to leave little room for doubt that it is a commentary on the mentioning of the holocaust in an argument.

68 more comments to go
and we'll break the BLTN record currently held by Watchmen! We can do it guys! C'mon, there have to be more ways to insult Genevieve, we've only scratched the surface. I actually do feel a little bad about all of this (as if she cares), but she had to have some idea what she was starting with

@Dr. Venkman PhDs:

I'll be dead in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah!

Super Dave
I saw an ad the other day for a Super Dave comeback special on Spike (I think). Since I never found the character remotely funny but have since come to appreciate the actor I was wondering if AV Club will be covering this so I will know if it's worth watching. Judging by the ads, it looked like there would

Parting of the ways
After watching this all-around "A" episode, I decided that I'd check in here and if Todd gave it anything less than a "B+" I wasn't going to bother reading his relentlessly negative drivel anymore. So I didn't read it and until they get someone who can appreciate good television to take his place I

I was trying to seek out Dr. Venkman PhDs' thoughts on this subject, but since she's noticeably absent, I'll add to the ZMF love. Well put, Motherfucker.
I'll admit I don't have the most objective opinion on this subject since I saw the movie in the theater and when I filled out my "All About Me" book at age 5 I wrote
