I agree. I love Crumb and find religious texts interesting, but I doubt I'll be picking up his "Genesis."

"The right is such a parody of itself that there is nothing left to satirize. You can't really exaggerate "Death Panels" for comic effect. And culture is so fractured that you're just shouting into an echo chamber anyways."
@TomWaits (and anyone else who might care)
I'm having some trouble getting through it
I read it as a teenager, but as an adult, man, does it seem slow…
The Sundance Channel is showing "Pusher 3" on Saturday October 24 at Midnight.
Yeah, the "Tulse Luper Suitcases" were the secondary reason why I got into downloading via bit torrents. I recommend everyone else do the same.
I was going to give a shout-out to Harris' "The Nurture Assumption" one of my favorite books of recent years, but there's no way I could improve on Phodreaw's eloquent summary.
The Criterion laserdisc of "Crash" had a commentary by Cronenberg, which was not included on New Line's dvd. For that reason alone, I'd like to see Criterion put out a special edition.
"Christmas Tale" was on Sundance Channel last month, and they often re-run the movies they show. Don't know if this helps you or not.
Great Interview, Zach
Thank you. Lots to mull over in this interview.
Followed by "Don't Try Suicide" by Queen.
I would say "Wall of Death" is pretty life affirming. Of course, Thompson is such a cheerfully perverse songwriter that "Death" is in the title of his life-affirming song.
The feeling I always got from the song was that he knew it was very likely his addiction would kill him, but that wasn't going to stop him from shooting up. Even the line Frost2112 quotes has a "what can you do?" feeling about it.
I always thought "King's Crossing" was more about heroin addiction than suicide. The "give me one good reason not to do it" referred to getting high again, rather than killing himself.
Thanks, everyone
If "Little, Big" is a cult book, then I am a card-carrying member of that cult, only a step or two away from stopping passersby at my local airport. My reaction to the book is fairly close to Donna Bowman's. After finishing it for the first time, I bought copies for my sisters, convinced they would…
Yeah, "Shadowland" was a definite "wha?" when I was a teenager. Perhaps if I re-read now I'll get more out of it. Definitely a curious book.
Cool - I've been thinking of re-reading "Ghost Story." I haven't read it since I was a teenager.
Grayson -
Ms. Bowman?
Will you marry me?
Beautifully written, Swibble.
