AV BEEF!

These Sunday Funday episodes seem to generally bring out the best in these broken characters. Gretchen and Lindsay going at it was great, including the other characters not paying attention to their antics one bit. Lindsay and Edgar had a nice, touching exchange like the two "sidekicks" have from time to time. They

I like that bit in that it leads into Sam's hilarious dissertation on women "delivering the pussy."

"Hello, hipster dorks of the speakeasy! My name is Jimmy Shive-Overly, and I'm going to sing you a song!"

Ever since the sidekicks conversation Edgar and Lindsay have had a nice rapport (as friends anyway.) That was probably my favorite scene in the episode that had a lot of great moments.

You're welcome. I appreciate an opinion that makes me look at something from a different angle. Many times, it makes me appreciate what I'm watching even more.

"It's all about precision…"

Unstoppable is such a wonderful film. A lean (98 minutes), kinetic thriller (Scott's editing style definitely worked in this film's favor) made with such a minimal of means (there is no real villain, just a runaway train). The use of real trains and the mostly practical effects are extraordinary. Seeing it in the

Whether anyone agrees with you or not, you are making your case in a very detailed manner and I appreciate your point of view. As longs as things are respectful, this place need not be an echo chamber.

I know how you feel. I can get ridiculously obsessive about these things too. Whenever I see "bury the lead" or "tow the line" it drives me up a wall.

He did stand up to Jimmy once in season one and actually moved out. When Jimmy found out he was living in his car he clearly felt bad and asked him to move back. It was a nice step on Edgar's part and a nice gesture from Jimmy, but it's not really surprising that they've both regressed to old behavior.

I would imagine that's sort of the idea, i.e. Jimmy and Gretchen are so insecure they have to use Edgar as a punching bag and they are far from being self-aware enough to know how cruel they're being. It's a credit to the show that they can makes characters like this compelling, and even mildly sympathetic.

It was a cruel line, but Jimmy looking at the camera with that stupid mask on his face did make it darkly funny, yes.

Gretchen gives slight hints, but in her own self-centered way.Re-watching last week's "Men Get Strong" Gretchen was sincerely trying to help Jimmy, mostly so he wouldn't ruin the "rad cruise," but I think she does genuinely care more than she is willing to admit. Then at the end she asks Edgar is everything's OK, and

It was a surreal way to end it all. She could've had him arrested or similarly carted away somewhere, but no, it was just, "Is that all?" and the automatic door, like an episode of The Prisoner. Definitely not what I expected, and pretty damn brutal.

Wow. This episode was, of course, excellent, but the way it has struck a chord for some of the commenters here is jaw-dropping. The stories of suffering and perseverance I've read have been quite moving and I truly thank the people for sharing their stories and hope it has provided some sort of cathartic effect for

The same face he saw following/watching him the entire episode.

Point well made, Rafael. I know many veterans who get good help from the VA. Half the battle is getting veterans to know what's available, what they're eligible for, where to go and what paperwork to fill out. It is a frustrating bureaucracy, but as you say, the people who work in it can be helpful as they can but be

Yes! I liked the general tone that Edgar is not some horrible monster ready to go on a killing rampage (although his attempt at sex with Dorothy was incredibly disturbing) but just more frightened than anything, and that the world is not against him in particular, just generally cold and indifferent, but there are

I like how they did this. Desmin was excellent, the direction and editing was quite adroit (the lack of the cold-open was immediately jarring.) Re-contextualizing scenes from last week were devastating, particularly Jimmy's barb about cowards "being shot" said directly to the camera. What sounded cruel last week was
