The early years are interesting because they actually tried to live up to MAD moniker by doing mostly film/TV parodies (Annie Ho anyone? Gump Fiction?). As the years went on they drifted away from that and into, like many sketch shows, mostly recurring characters and celebrity impersonations.

I remember Daly doing a bullseye Bill Maher.

The sketch was about Will no longer being funny because he got thin (and was no longer "the funny fat guy") and was pretty spot on.

I love Sasso. Just watching a supercut of his silly lemon vines is ridiculously funny.

Actors like Phil LaMarr, Debra Wilson, Keegan Michael Key, Jordan Peele, and Aries Spears put most of the SNL cast to shame and shows that Lorne Michaels barely ever tried to get black castmembers.

Somehow I don't anticipate the retool doing the ratings trick, I mean it's not like they are going to wait for people to "find" the show, as they are using a known property (which is what got it the early ratings to begin with.)

You mean the Life Day song Carrie Fisher sang to the "Star Wars Theme"? Good God…

The best Christmas song is, of course, "Ho, Ho, Ho (Who'd Be a Turkey at Christmas)" by Elton John.

A mid-first season retool isn't a good sign (I would imagine it's worked somewhere in the past, but I can't think of an example.)

"It sounds like a cat drowning another cat. And neither one of them can sing!"

Roast beef, cole slaw and Russian dressing on rye is an awesome sandwich.

By now we've had a Ms. Noodle and a Miss Noodle. For four siblings they aren't really into first names.

Bill Irwin, who plays the original Mr. Noodle, is very much alive. You're probably referring to Michael Jeter who played his brother for a few years (when Irwin wasn't available) and died in 2003.

I second that. It wasn't the best marriage (it's no secret that the cast and writers of SNL hate hate hated the Muppet segments), but it wasn't because it was bad work, and it was cool to see Henson, Oz, and Co. do some more adult humor. Moreover the working on a live variety show was probably a good precursor to The

Peter Griffin as Han Solo: "Hey, check it out, it's another chick! The only other chick in the galaxy!"

Never follow a Princess to a second location.

The look on Holt's face when Boyle smacked him on the ass was great.

"Astronomy is kind of interesting, and I am hella-smart."
