Family Guy did a cutaway gag about Starlight Express as well. It's always been kind of a punch line when making theater jokes, I mean it is an Andrew Lloyd Webber disco musical about trains played by actors on roller skates. It's about every ridiculous thing about musical theater all rolled into one.

It was pretty funny when on The Big Bang Theory he apologized to Sheldon for the demotion of Pluto and Sheldon simply told him to shut up.

I really look forward to the finale. The scene in the promo where Gretchen confronts Nina and tries to kiss her looks hysterical.

"I sat around while my junk went bad, all for you!"

"I need you to UNLEASH THE BEAST." When Braugher gets to chew on a line like that, it's gold.

I loved Jake's commentary are she downed the shots, particularly the "these belong to someone else" line because they were so conveniently sitting there.

She should just start carrying a large ham around.

"Three time [squash] intramural champion at Sarah Lawrence. Would've been four, but senior year I played Greaseball in our school's production of Starlight Express."
"Interesting casting."

"Hey! Adrienne Barbeau just bogarted my last half bone! I was saving that for me and E.G. Marshall!"

Either that or Will's lowbrow sense of humor makes him end it because he's laughing uncontrollably. There's probably no middle ground here.

I think his point about writers trying to tailor material to what they think a specific actor wants was spot on. It's one thing to have an actor in mind when writing something, but to alter it to "fit" a particular star doesn't improve the end product all that often.

Just reread the Airplane! oral history and it still kills me.

She's clearly been drinking/ doing drugs since at least high school. It wouldn't surprise in the least that she blew off treatment a long time ago and has since been attempting to use a fast-paced coke-fueled lifestyle as compensation.

It sounds like a line Gracie Allen might've said way back when. (Kether/Lindsay definitely has a little Gracie in her.)

True. The point being is I would imagine she had been given anti-depressants in the past, but since she has been a consistent drug user for awhile, they may not have had any real effect on her, so she's been self-medicating with cocaine, etc, thinking she was helping herself, which led her to the brick wall she

Oh yeah, if I were in Jimmy's position I would feel like a total piece of shit after she said that. However, I can totally buy that Jimmy was afraid to tell Nina straight up, "Look, I can't do this," because I think Jimmy was terrified that if he tried that he might still get talked into (or talk himself into) going

I hope they follow up on that at some point (this show is pretty good at that.) I'd love to hear the story of how, at some point in time, Gretchen worked for Henry Rollins (even if it's only a quick throwaway line.)

I liked Vernon using his stethoscope, as if that had anything to do with Gretchen's problem. (The steak sauce popcorn sounds tasty though.)

Aya's been getting deserved kudos, but Chris Geere's work has been damned fine as well, as it's been a rollercoaster of emotions for Jimmy. I especially loved the moment where Jimmy approached Gretchen with the actual thought that she might be dead, and his frustrated reaction when she wasn't. Terrific work all around.

That line was so gloriously meta. One wonders if Aya was ever actually called that by a casting director or agency.
