no one wants stereotypical gay characters but it'd be nice if a character was gay and the audience actually knew it.
that doesn't mean they have to have a gay sex scene or even a gay kiss but like a single line of dialogue and not "HI I AM A STAR WARS CHARACTER AND I LIKE SAME SEX RELATIONSHIPS" but a clear expression

i think you're already there, pal.

straight people don't have to establish their sexuality because straight is still considered the default.

you can talk about your sexuality without talking about the actual sex acts.

yeah that's not what they're saying at all but ok

twinky sebastian stan is the only reason i watched that movie.

i frequently think of nancy's "weak, weak, weak!"

because if a character is gay all they do is talk about their sexual activities

star wars, an existing franchise, was mentioned for two reasons:
1. disney didn't have any gay rep in their films last year
2. there are already rumors about a character from the force awakens being gay

"The point being since when has Star Wars been about romance or sex beyond the most fleeting of references."
have you actually watched star wars or?

no

i don't know, do we need to have the straight romances that are in everything, including star wars? and yet those aren't considered "shoehorned in" because straight relationships are the default.

GLAAD can do multiple things, not just the one thing. in fact that's what they do.

the number is actually closer to 4%
"1.7 percent as lesbian or gay, 1.8 percent as bisexual, and 0.3 percent as transgender"
but this is according to a study done in 2011. i'm sure the percentage is much higher now.

did you read the article above because it explains why GLAAD included star wars in their annual responsibility index.

it shouldn't be

"Disney… was apparently one of only two studios (the other being Paramount) that didn’t have a single gay or lesbian character in any of its movies last year."
because this isn't an important battle.

they sure are. except for mine, because they're amazing. but all other children, definitely.

too late!

are you suggesting the characters in star wars haven't had sex? or that they don't know what sex is? because a lot of them have children.
