My Favorite Book Signed by One of my Favorite Bands
I got to meet the entire line-up of Clutch a few years ago. I happened to have a copy of my favorite book Catcher in the Rye with me (I'm not psychotic), so I had them sign that.

"Something Happened" Signed by Joseph Heller
Somewhere around my apartment I have a copy of Joseph Heller's "Something Happened" that was not only signed by him but also has a personal note written by him to me. A friend of mine got to film an interview with him. This was, I think, a month before his death.
"Avoid the Noid"
Good advice, no matter what era you're living in.
I'm a big fan of the Black Bolt posts. There's a consistency there that's utterly charming. Has anyone figured out a logic as to what he/she posts on?
Of the early Peter Jackson splatter-pieces, Dead Alive is the best, grossest, and most quotable. Bad Taste runs a close second (and features PJ himself in quite a bit of the movie, he sustains an…interesting head wound to say the least) and is also pretty damn gross. Meet the Feebles is a distant third, it's good,…
On their last tour (at least in the U.S.) they started most shows wearing dinner jackets and joking how they were too old to still be touring. Can't imagine what they'll do this time 'round.

Also, AVClub loses extra points of not even mentioning the Sweet.

Raymond Carver
What about the art of the short story? I think any life would be enriched by exposure to Raymond Carver. I'd assign Are These Actual Miles? (which was my introduction to Carver via a Fiction Writing class), What's in Alaska, Neighbors, Where I'm Calling From, and Feathers to start with.
I Bet Gibby Haynes is Stoked
You know, since he and the Butthole Surfers tried (and succeeded) to fuck over Touch & Go by yanking their catalog.
