With no genitals you have no urges, but that doesn't necessarily apply to a magical vampire which is completely alien to you.

Just for the record I think Game Of Thrones is going back to the exploitation well too much. It's winning Emmys that it deserved more in earlier years (not the first time that's happened).

I'm hoping he'll at least make some pretense of paying him. Just robbing everyone who brings you stuff to sell isn't great for a fence's reputation.

Two episodes in a row in which Eichorst, who used to know the value of human allies, straight-up murders one (it's possible the cop refused to turn Dutch over, but then maybe that would have been an interesting thing to see). And then he leaves the cop's car, with doors open, right behind the local National Guard HQ

They should have had him stop to lick up each drop of blood she left in her wake.

You're saying that running from a storm isn't like running from wind, but running from cold is?

I would have liked the first much better if they'd ended it with the end of the maze (then maybe a very brief stinger in the credits), rather than having the big lead-in to movie 2. I miss when they'd let the first film stand on its own and see how that went before working in the second.

One of the messages of the movie (which I think it shares with other movies about young Indians dealing with their families) is that a lot of parents are willing to agree to a cross-caste marriage once they've met the person and seen that their child loves them, but if dealing with it in the abstract (often because

So you're saying to problem with America today is that people listen too much to people they disagree with?

I think zachary is referring to Max being off-putting, not you.

She's really funny.

This is right on the money about how Becca and the rest are somewhat blinded by the filmmaking process. She's so obsessed with "The Elixir" that it would be fair to say she almost loses her life in an attempt to create a Hero's Journey narrative where it doesn't fit.

I think you misunderstand. The Visit isn't deliberately bad, the film the protagonist is making is just not as deep as she thinks it is (and of course not the right type of movie; she's not intending to make a thriller). It makes pretty hilarious use of her throwing around not only a bunch of film school terminology

Those were "five magical gold coin" words.

Mae Whitman is the only Katara!

M Night Jesus is a definite mis-step, but I wouldn't want to lose Balaban trying to use film theory to talk the monster out of eating him.

Me too. As soon as this movie ended I checked to the credits with the expectation he hadn't written it. But he had! Somehow he got his entire groove back. Even as someone who tried to stay a fan through the dark times I'm surprised.

Yeah I call it more a "surprising explanation" than a twist. The whole film basically asks one question and the answer to that question is the focus. It's not a twist any more than if the revelation of the killer at the end of a mystery was someone you hadn't guessed.

You don't think Hayden Christiansen as the young Bruce Willis?
