No arguments. They also rock more than Tim Minchin, who even describes himself as a cabaret performer. I was making a joke as to the possible sexist reason they wouldn't be considered. I'm a fan.

Russell Crowe sang to it.
They're girls so they do comedy folk not rock.
I'm suprised Harlan isn't suing someone over something in regards to this.
"She plagiarized my name!"
Very disturbing

Hitchcock liked Lorre b/c he laughed at all of Hitch's jokes but according to John Gielgud, Lorre's English wasn't that good and he was just being polite. Although the two did enjoy playing practical jokes on each other. (And JG isn't always a reliable witness).
I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux
didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of
town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood.
Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!
Heh, most Aussies live in the suburbs and are as afraid of the outback as you'll be after seeing this movie. Which is brilliant btw.
1. Hombre
2. Out of Sight
3. 3:10 to Yuma
4. Get Shorty
5. The Tall T
Sounds painful.
Hey, Ben-Hur was made into a mini-series just a couple of years ago. Or so says Wikipedia b/c it completely snuck under my radar. The cast are mostly unknown to me but Ray Winstone played Jack Hawkins' part. Has anyone here seen it?
Strangely enough 10 years later Orson Welles starred as a Mexican colonel in a spaghetti western called Tepepa.
JASON STATHAM IS BEN HUR - THIS TIME IT"S PERSONAL
Could be. I'm always getting my right-wing, crotchety cowboy actors mixed up.
As an Aussie I'm tempted to say Hugh or Jacki but putting patriotism aside I'll go with Django Unchained. If only for Spike Lee's inventable Karl Rove-like meltdown afterwards.
@avclub-b63f73301fe289a7c258eb2e3f4986ce:disqus I liked your comment but then remembered that Bogart won that year so I'm not too upset by Brando missing out.
And he won three years later.
If they had ever nominated Bob Hope he would've had to throw out half his jokes.
Cliff Robertson was the first to do it in a big way in the mid-60s for Charley and it earned him a lot of disapproving harumphing from Hollywood at the time but nowadays it's just seen as moxy.
It really does stick out like a sore thumb, doesn't it? Even as a kid I remember thinking - WTF? Plus that damn song was played at every wedding I attended for about 10 years.
