Falling in love again
Never wanted to
What am I to do?
Can't help it

What about Positively 4th Street ?

John Martyn's album Grace and Danger.
Island Records boss Chris Blackwell held the release up for a year b/c he thought it was too depressing. As your typical moody teen I found it the perfect soundtrack for my self-indulgent wallowing.

Good Lord, it took 7 seasons for Josh and Donna to hook up!
Understandably, I'm still a little upset by that.

"Maniacal Cunt Nightmare Whore."
Sounds like the title of a Lindsay Lohan biography to me.

Fun Fact: Clint Eastwood's first credited acting role was in Francis in the Navy and while starring in Rawhide he appeared, as himself, on an episode of Mr. Ed.

Yeah, I agree. L&C was Superman as a rom-com and I think it worked pretty well, for 2 seasons anyway. Once Lois found out Clark's secret it went downhill toute suite. Also the show did a good job at making Clark's back-story more credible. For instance instead of sitting around the north pole he had travelled around

On The Fly remake : The intensity just keeps building during the last 30 minutes to the point where I'm sure a lot of people would consider it just OTT bat-shit crazy. For me it was one of the most unsettling movies I've ever seen in the theatre. I almost bolted at the dream sequence, as well.

Rio Bravo seems a bit out of place. Although I get the Hawks connection with The Thing. I've been watching a lot of Hammer Horror lately, so it's nice to see some Peter Cushing in that line-up, co-starring with a long time favourite, Hazel Court.

At the risk of seeming obsessional about this (as if there were any doubt) I dug up Enlightenment and played "In the Days Before Rock and Roll" and of course the first thing to say is that technically Van doesn't sing about Fats and Elvis, that's Paul Durcan reciting a crazy-ass poem while Van croons about an old

Luuuuuuuuuuuuv that song!

Stanley 'The Grouch' Crouch is what I call him.
And I'm being charitable.

Yeah, I knew "The Days Before Rock and Roll" would trip me up. I had the nagging suspicion that a whole bunch of singers were mentioned in that one. My only excuse is that it's dinner time here in Australia and I was a little distracted.

I have to say I'm more than a little suprised (nay shocked) and certainly disappointed that you guys could write an article about name-dropping singers without once mentioning the all-time world champion of name-droppers: Van Morrison!
Here is a, probably woefully incomplete, list of the various notables that Van the

The Civil War will always be one of the best doco series ever made. Right up there with Civilisation, The Ascent of Man and Cosmos. If the love letter at the end of the first ep doesn't make you cry you must have a heart of stone.
However, Burns' subsequent projects are much more problematic. I found the WW2 and

Now how many roles has Beatty turned down? 500? 600?

I bet the doves aren't too happy about it either.

So I guess this means that QT gave up on the whole 'casting against type' idea, then?

Count me in as a lover of romcom from Hollywood's golden era. Unless it's in black and white I'm a little wary. Speaking of Barbara Stanwyck (and Preston Sturges) my fave is The Lady Eve.

I'd really like this show to work because I love Maria Bello, even when she's wearing that silly hat. But it's a bit of a hard slog. The sexism of her fellow coppers comes across as heavy handed and old fashioned and results in all the supporting characters being creeps and morons. Makes the whole show depressing.
