..not a great writer by any means, but far and away one of my favorite "idea men" of classic science-fiction. I still love the idea of human progression/evolution as presented in the Childe Cycle books.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that qualifies as an unmitigated success at typing a singular thought, if an unpopular one that you happen to disagree with.

Good lists on the whole, really - though, as has been mentioned, the year in film has been such that critic's lists are beginning to seem a little homogeneous.
