I'm OK with lots of characters being introduced, but there has to be something holding it all together. And I don't mean in a direct plot sense – but a heart of some sort that keep everything beating.

The Contagion soundtrack, which Martinez also did, is really moody and weird and great. Highly recommend it.

Anyone else love John Hawkes as much as I do? Every time he's in something he's nothing short of compelling.

I love the World is not Enough theme song. Very underrated.

Reviewers have always said each show is graded on its own curve. An A for "The Big Bang Theory" doesn't mean it's as good as an A episode of"Breaking Bad."

"Consider this a disclaimer for “Runaways” and every future episode of The Strain until further notice: At this point, I honestly have no idea how to grade this show."

What a testament to 24 too, considering a lot of the shows we have now (including, I'd argue, Game of Thrones) likely wouldn't have happened if 24's serialized structure hadn't become a huge success. The show proved masses of people would keep up with an overarching story each week, and the need to have each episode

Yeah I hadn't read far enough when I wrote this, and I was mildly embarrassed. But not enough to actually edit my comment.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this. S3, when he breaks down in the car at the end, had a silent clock now that I think about it. I don't know if S5 did (that was him being hauled off to China, right?). But I think S4 did … he was at a beach house or something and like, disappeared … or something like that. And Audrey may

Why is nobody else mentioning the silent clock at the end of the episode, when Jack was being flown away? Did I imagine that? That seems to imply the series is sort of over.

Does the silent clock at the end of the episode, when Jack is flying away on the helicopter, mean the series is over? A symbolic death of Jack Bauer, rather than literal?

Best shows on TV right now: 1) Mad Men. 2A and 2B) The Americans and Hannibal. Justified had a down year but is usually up there too.

See, I like that messiness. I love that a lot of stuff goes on and it's not always focused. The tone remains consistent, so it works for me.

Watch the S1 pilot. Then just read a recap for the rest of it, don't. Start S2, watch the little pre-episode recap, and just relax and let yourself catch up. There isn't a whole lot from S1 you absolutely need to know, it seems like. And if there is, it'll probably get filled in.

The third film is basically five incredibly complicated action/thriller sequences strung together to form a movie. And it's phenomenal.

Best fake laugh since Michael Bluth at Maggie Lizer's house.

I don't want to see David Tate on my TV screen anymore. Just move on, let it go! It was a terrible plot and I don't need to be reminded of it anymore.

Terrible Tate. It's like Brody in Homeland staying around too long, even if it was just his presence and not him physically being on screen.

I find myself usually agreeing with Greenwald's takes. And while watching S1 of The Bridge completely fall apart was fascinating, it was horribly frustrating and I wasn't sure about watching S2.

This season premiere moved incredibly confidently for a show that's re-orienting – and essentially rediscovering – itself. The opening scene was fantastic too. Hell of a way to kick it off.
