Got back from Asia this week, promptly hopped on the DVR to watch this.

The Professor was one of my childhood heroes, along with Bruce Lee. Wanting to be smart like him was one of the reasons I went to MIT; his terrible Cary Grant impression continues to inspire my bad jokes, and his cluelessness about women probably led to my taste for small brunettes in short shorts.

A lot of people forget just how fucking ubiquitous TCM was in the 90's and early 2000's. I'm still hearing tracks from Vegas show up on car and liquor commercials. Still one of my favorite albums - "Busy Child" will ALWAYS get my ass shakin'.

"He…spends much of the movie looking like a confused Labrador retriever, his head slightly cocked, eyes communicating a willingness to please the audience combined with an inability to understand what he’s being asked to do."

Love this show so freakin' much. When it became available on DVD a few years ago, boy howdy did I jump on that.

During the highly ritualized and bureaucratic Tokugawa shogunate, that was probably the case. The guy who wrote the Hagakure seemed to think that the 47 Ronin should have just gone postal on Lord Kira immediately, rather than get all sneaky and shit. Honor would have been served, even if they failed.

Then I revise "actual historical event" to be "well-documented event."

They committed seppuku because they committed murder, not for "failing to protect their master." Lord Asano was forced to commit seppuku because he attacked Lord Kira (a massive asshole who probably deserved it) within the confines of Edo Castle, the Shogun's residence. Pulling your weapon inside of Edo Castle alone

I guess I'll make the obligatory comment about Lise Mayer. She was a dish then, and she's a dish now. Hubba hubba.

One of my favorite Vyv quotes as well. Although most Vyv quotes are gold.

An upvote is not enough. I shelled out to watch it via iTunes and really wanted to ask for my money back. As soon as I saw the trailer for LDoM, I flashed back to ER and immediately invested $10 in junk bonds, seems like a better use of my money than this dreck.

"Uncle Cancer" and "Back To Dick" are the two new bands I just created after watching last night's Sons.

I had a damned lot of fun with this book. And not gonna lie - I was actually crying a little at the end.

In anything that Ryan Murphy (co-)creates, logic is the least of his concerns, it appears. For Nip/Tuck and Glee, it is best just to chuck good old logic out of the window and go along for the ride.

Someone get Axel Braun on the phone!

Gemma needs to throw Unser a pity fuck. Just sayin'.

I like the way you think, sir.

Thank God there will be less shakycam. If the beginner's-level music video technique of 2-second cutaways is gone, then I'll be more excited to see Catching Fire.

Also - WTF is it with SAMCRO and flip phones? Especially with Juice as the resident computer geek, you'd think he'd get out of the 90's and steal a smartphone or something.
