I watched all five seasons last year because I lost a bet with my partner. I found Lorelai funny and kind of charming for seasons 1-2 or thereabouts. After that I found myself increasingly irritated with her, to the point I was muttering sarcastic comebacks to everything she said. I imagine in the series universe,

Bob is part of the generation that was still in school when the show started, and is basically where Pete was at the start of season 1 - it's never easy when you see that the people you once thought of as the young ones are replaced by people who are even more impossibly young then them. It just reinforces the fact

People say verse when referring to the acronym VS instead of versus all the time, and not just in the last ten years - I seem to recall verse being used a lot in WWF matches in the 80's. Seems like a really pedantic thing to get upset about.

I definitely got a key-party-esque vibe to their New Year's party, but I don't think they're going in that direction. Too much of an easy out for Don.

Like Coca Cola? Pepsi? McDonalds?

And yo' sack of nickles

Yes, but also how badly he wanted to go back to how it was before, and knowing that he couldn't.

I agree. I didn't care for the level of violence on the Sopranos, nor the fandom that didn't seem to understand that we weren't supposed to actually be rooting for Tony.

Dylan, Berlin, Bay of Pigs Invasion
Lawrence of Arabia, British Beatle Mania
Ole Miss, John Glenn,
Liston Beats Patterson,
Pope Paul, Malcolm X, British Politician Sex,
JFK BLOWN AWAY

What?

Shut up. That would be awesome.

At this point it's probably fan service. He knows people talk about the ridiculously opaque 'Next Ons' and they probably work hard to make the most ridiculous 'previews' possible.

I'm friends with a couple people who are terminally ill - we watched this together last night. They loved it*. I wonder if how much you liked this episode has to do with your proximity to your own mortality. Maybe the people who are closest of all appreciate it more.

@avclub-ad916d253bc29f5f49aed128870e988e:disqus Ha I wasn't actually commenting on the quality of the season - I think it's fine, fine in the same way season three was largely fine, and two and one were great (brilliant does not enter my lexicon regarding this show) - I was simply pointing out how

Dear Britain,

I agree with you on this episode, but disagree that up to this point the writers nailed it. The whole storyline has completely sucked the air out of the entire show.

… in that it's demonstrably better than what came before it but people are so bloody-minded about the littlest changes to their routines they demand a return to the old, crappier version?

The people whining about Phil remind me of that scene in 'About a Boy' when Rachel Weisz's kid shrieks, 'She's not keen on him! SHE'S ONLY KEEN ON ME!'

Conan: There's this grumpy Harrison Ford image-
Ford: That's horeshit.
(wild uproarious applause)
Ford: Maybe in the morning, before my coffee. But I'm not a grumpy person.
Conan: I don't think so at all.
Ford: Good.

Thanks. The cute girl next to me at Panera thinks I'm a psychopath because I just burst out laughing when I read this.
