I wonder if this was supposed to parody the poem James Stewart wrote about his dog for the Tonight Show. That was the first thing that popped into my head.

Its odd. I've never really cared for her stand up (what little I've seen, anyway), but I find I quite enjoy the sketch show. I'm not demeaning her comedy chops, BTW. Her delivery is fine, and she's clearly developed a voice; her usual subject matter just isn't my cup of tea.
