I think there has to be some sort of structural problem with how the writing is done on SNL to account for how bad it often is. There are too many talented people involved for the writing to be as horrible as it often is.

To me the problem is that, increasingly as the series has evolved, Gervai's mindset seems to be "I'm going to book a bunch of things that I consider to be basically freak shows and circus acts, and then when Karl gets uncomfortable I'm going to lambast him for being intolerant."

I think it will be hard to ever top the ads for Bucky Larson where that screaming idiot kept popping up in front of the ad to prevent you from actually seeing any of it.
